Performing with Il Divo

The first artist to be signed to Gary Barlow’s fledgling label, Camilla Kerslake, is slated to perform at the HMV Apollo on December 7th and 8th alongside Il Divo.

The quartet will be appearing onstage with Camilla for two collaborations. The group will be launching their Celebrate Christmas with Il Divo tour with these London dates, and violin virtuoso Vanessa-Mae will also be appearing alongside the multilingual vocalists. Il Divo will tour in London and North America in support of their recent No. 1, The Promise, and US-released album The Christmas Collection.

21-year-old Camilla Kerslake is to be the newest treasure in the world of classical music – the singer’s four octave voice is like none heard before it. Such is her talent that Camilla found herself with a recording contract just out of music school – that is, after she persistently bombarded Gary Barlow with her demo.

Of being signed by the Take That star, Camilla says: “Gary’s one of the biggest talents in the whole of the British music industry and an amazing mentor. How lucky am I? Any advice he gives me is going to be incredible.”

The coloratura soprano isn’t your traditional opera singer. She says: “Katherine Jenkins is operatic, being a trained vocalist with a rich and fully-rounded sound. I, on the other hand, being previously untrained am more like a boy soprano, someone who can sing so lightly and so high that, in the upper ranges, I become almost like an instrument. And that’s why the material we’ve chosen is not operatic crossover but classical, to which my voice lends itself so much better.”
